Hey! My name is Melody and I’m an awkward person so I became a photographer.

There’s cameras everywhere these days—we all carry them in our pockets, they’re on our computers, our front doors, our traffic lights, the backs of our cars. So what’s different about my camera? Is it the highest tech, most expensive, innovative design? Nope. Quite the opposite, in fact. It’s old, large, and clunky. But here’s the thing: I’m behind it. What does that mean? Firstly, it means that I don’t feel quite as awkward and hopefully, in turn, will make you feel less awkward as well. It means that you NEED to get yourself in front of my camera so that I have someone other than myself to photograph. It means that I’ll try my very best to tell your story—whether your real or imagined one.

I am based out of the very cool county of Van Buren, IA (a little area in the Southeast region of Iowa, filled with gorgeous places and lots of artisans). I currently offer photography, cakes, florals and creative direction.
